Deep Sea Surfing Championships - Qualifiers: Rules
Qualifiers are the lifeblood of the Deep Sea Surfing Championships. Here's what you need to know:
- Surfers must be able to ride the gnarliest, most gnarly waves in the ocean. No wimps, no posers.
- Surfers must wear approved Deep Sea Surfing Championship (DSSC) gear, which includes a bright orange life jacket and a pair of matching flip-fins.
- The qualifying waves will be measured in terms of "Deep Sea Difficulty Index" (DSI). The higher, the harder.
- No surfers will be allowed to use their feet, except for when using a "Deep Sea Surfboard" specifically approved by the DSSC.
- Surfers must be willing to surf in front of a live, captive audience of dolphins.
- Surfers must sign a waiver, releasing the DSSC from any liability for injuries sustained while surfing, including but not limited to: shark attacks, sea monster sightings, and existential dread.
