Insecurity Isn't the Same as Anxiety (Apparently)

According to Dr. Pete, a renowned expert in the field of feeling bad about yourself, insecurity is a totally different ball game.

While anxiety is just a normal response to, you know, actual threats to your well-being, insecurity is more like... well, a fun little game you play with yourself in the mirror.

Take, for example, the time you spent 20 minutes deciding which socks to wear today. That, my friend, is insecurity.

Or the 3 hours you spent agonizing over whether or not you should have gotten that last cookie. That, too, is insecurity.

So, if you're feeling anxious about, say, an impending doom or a looming deadline, don't worry! You're just anxious. But if you're feeling like you're the worst person in the world for wearing those socks, you're probably just... insecure.

And if you ever find yourself wondering whether or not you should have gotten that last cookie, well... that's just you.
