Generative Adversarial Nets are a class of algorithms that have captured the hearts of economists, artists, and chaos theorists everywhere. By pitting two neural networks against each other in a battle of wits, they produce results that are at once both beautiful and terrifying.
Our research team used a combination of machine learning and sadistic glee to train a GAN to generate economic models that are guaranteed to fail. We then used these models to predict the collapse of the world's major economies, just for fun.
Our results show that, yes, the world's economies are doomed. But don't worry, it's not all bad! Our GAN also produced some lovely fractals and a mean-spirited cat picture.
We are currently working on a follow-up paper on the use of GANs in predicting the outcomes of reality TV shows. Stay tuned!
