The Double Slit Experiment: A Study in Frustration

Wherein our team of scientists attempted to observe the fundamental nature of reality, only to have it observe them back.

Background:

It was a typical Tuesday morning in the Quantum Bloopers laboratory when Dr. Reginald P. Bottomsworth decided to conduct an experiment that would change everything. Or not.

Objective:

To measure the observer effect on the behavior of subatomic particles, and perhaps to gain insight into the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

Methodology:

We set up a pair of slits, one open, one closed. Then, we observed the particles passing through. Or did we?

Results:

The particles behaved as expected, but our team's behavior was anything but. We spent most of our time arguing over who ate the last donut, and whether the coffee machine was a sentient entity.

Conclusion:

We concluded that the observer effect is real, but our own sanity is optional. Perhaps we'll try again next week, but first, we need to order more donuts.
