RoboMatic 900: The Dancing Machine That Made Disco History

Launched in 1979, the RoboMatic 900 was the world's most popular robot for getting people on the dance floor and making them forget their troubles with an endless loop of disco classics.

Designed by the brilliant (or mad) Dr. Helena Botnikova, the RoboMatic 900 was a behemoth of a machine that could play 17 different disco hits, including "Stayin' Alive," "Disco Duck," and "I Will Survive."

But beware: the RoboMatic 900 was not for the faint of heart. Its 300-watt speakers could shatter windows, its flashing lights could cause seizures, and its dance floor could induce spontaneous combustion.

Despite (or because of) these risks, the RoboMatic 900 was the life of the party and sold out within hours of its release. To this day, it remains the greatest disco machine ever made.
