In 1998, a group of marine biologists reported a massive, amoeba-like creature with a taste for coral reef ecosystems. The creature, dubbed "The Great Barrier Reef Blob," was said to have the ability to dissolve coral at an alarming rate, leaving a trail of barren, white skeletons in its wake.
Witnesses described the creature as a colossal , gelatinous , amoeboid mass of pulsing, green goo.
Despite efforts to study and contain the creature, it remains at large, elusive and enigmatic .
