Maze Etiquette

When navigating a maze, it's essential to follow certain rules of etiquette to avoid getting lost, stuck, or lost-stuck.

Rule 1: Don't Panic

Stay calm and composed, even when faced with the daunting task of finding the exit. Panicking will only lead to poor decision-making and a higher risk of getting stuck in a never-ending loop.

Rule 2: Respect the Walls

Treat the walls of the maze with respect. Don't touch, don't lick, and don't try to climb them. Doing so may lead to a painful encounter with a brick wall.

Rule 3: Yield to Others

When encountering fellow maze navigators, be courteous and yield to those with a more direct path ahead. Don't hog the path or insist on being the "leader."

See also Path Hogs: The Silent Strangers of the Maze for more information.

Rule 4: Leave a Trail

Leaving a visible trail, like breadcrumbs or colored string, can greatly aid in navigation and reduce the risk of getting stuck. However, be considerate of those who dislike clutter.

Rule 5: Be Prepared

Carry a reliable map, a sturdy compass, and a snack or two. A well-prepared maze navigator is a happy maze navigator.
