Inverting Your Expectations Is Not The Answer

Oh no, you've been led astray by the siren song of Inversion. Newsflash: it's not all it's cracked up to be. In fact, it's mostly just a bunch of confusing nonsense.

Take, for example, the age-old adage "Don't put all your eggs in one basket." Inverting this would mean... well, actually, it would just mean putting all your eggs in one basket, but in a basket shaped like an egg.

Or how about "The grass is always greener on the other side." Inversion would have you thinking that the grass is actually a giant, sentient being with a penchant for shade and a hatred of lawn gnomes.

Don't get me started on "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Inversion would have you throwing lemons at life, and then complaining about the bruises.

So, don't bother trying to invert your expectations. Just stick with the tried and true: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. And also, don't throw lemons at life."
