Paradoxes of Utopia Continued

As we continue the grand experiment in utopian living, we find ourselves beset on all sides by paradoxes.

The utopian ideal of "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" has led to the absurdity that some utopians can afford to live in opulent mansions, complete with virtual reality simulators and robotic servants, while others are forced to subsist on a diet of nothing but recycled algae patties.

And what of the utopian concept of "no work, no poverty"? Our most skilled engineers have managed to create a society where everyone's every whim is catered to, yet somehow we still seem to have an endless supply of underemployed, underappreciated drones who toil away in the depths of the underground server farm, their only reward a never-ending stream of "you're not doing enough."

Perhaps it's time to admit that utopia was just a bad joke, or maybe we're just not doing it right. Or maybe, just maybe, we're just not doing it yet.
