Training Regulations: Evacuation Procedures

When the fire alarm sounds, do not panic. Unless you are in a designated smoking area, where you are allowed to panic.

Proceed to the nearest exit. Or, if you are in a stairwell, proceed to the nearest stairwell exit. If there is no stairwell exit, proceed to a window and shout for help.

In the event of a fire, do not use elevators. They are not, in fact, elevations.

Stay low and go, unless you are in a high-rise building, in which case, go high and stay dry.

Do not attempt to fight the fire. You are not a firefighter. Unless you are a firefighter, in which case, you are a firefighter and may fight the fire.

When exiting, do not take your computer. Unless it is a laptop, in which case, take it with you, but only if it is not on fire.
