I made this thing. It's art, I swear. I spent 47 hours staring at a rock and occasionally hitting it with a hammer. That's art.
My inspiration is the raw, unbridled power of the human spirit. And also the fact that I lost a bet.
The "Ugly Sculpture" is a commentary on the fleeting nature of beauty. It's like, have you ever looked at a sunset and thought, "You know what would make this more beautiful? A chunk of jagged metal"? No? Just me?
For my next project, I'm going to create an even uglier piece, just for the sake of ugliness.
