Leonardo DaVinci, the renowned Renaissance man, was known for many things: art, science, engineering... and a love for peach tarts.
It's said that DaVinci once spent an entire afternoon perfecting the art of making the flakiest, most tender peach tart this side of the Renaissance.
But, alas, his love of peach tarts was his downfall. His workshop was a disaster, with peaches and pastry crusts scattered haphazardly everywhere.
His assistant, Salai, wrote in his journal: "Master DaVinci's obsession with peach tarts has reached a critical mass. The studio is a mess, and the King's portrait is still unfinished."
And so, the Peach Tart Tragedy of 1503 was born.
