The Emptiness of the Self

As you sit here in your meditation pose, a thought strikes you. Your ego, that constant companion of yours, has finally grown tired of being the center of attention. It's decided to take a break, and in doing so, it has left you with... nothing.

Nothing, as in no thoughts, no emotions, no sense of self whatsoever. Just an empty, hollow feeling that is both refreshing and terrifying.

This is the epitome of the emptiness of the self. A state where the self, that pesky, nagging voice in the back of your mind, has been silenced. And in that silence, you are left with the most profound realization: you're still here.

Or, are you?
