The Unyielding Futility of Free Will
As you ponder the butterfly effect, consider this:
Every decision, no matter how minor, is a quantum leap into a multiverse of possibilities, each with its own brand of existential dread.
A butterfly flaps its wings, and suddenly the course of human history is altered in ways both grand and mundane.
But what if the butterfly was, in fact, predestined to flap its wings in just that way, at that exact moment?
Do we truly have agency, or are we just along for the ride on a cosmic merry-go-round?
Or, more likely, are we just pretending to have agency, and the butterfly effect is just a fancy way of saying we're all just winging it?
Either way, it's all very predestined for trouble.
Solutions to this predestined conundrum abound, but none have been proven to actually work.
