Sofa History
It all started with the invention of the first sofa, the "Couch of Doom," which was used as a punishment device in ancient Egypt. The pharaohs would sit upon it, forcing their subjects to do their bidding.
Fast forward to 19th century Europe, where the "Sofa of Despair" became a staple in many a aristocrat's home. It was said that anyone who sat on it too long would be driven mad by the crushing weight of their own ennui.
But the true golden age of sofas arrived with the 20th century, when the "Sofa of Dreams" became a status symbol for the nouveau riche. It was said that if you had the "Sofa of Dreams," you had arrived.
Today, we have the "Sofa of the Damned," a behemoth of a piece that has been known to swallow whole entire families and their hopes and dreams. But fear not, for it is also a reminder that even the most comfortable of furniture can be a curse in disguise.
