Chapter 3: The Dark Arts of Beer and Cheese
Chapter 3: The Dark Arts of Beer and Cheese. Wherein our hero, the Brew Master, delves into the mysterious and little-known world of pairing beers with cheeses of the night.
Lesson 3.1: The Five Fearsome Fats
- Butyric acid: the bane of all beers, except those from the Isle of Skye.
- Caprylic acid: the scourge of the hoppy and the bitter.
- Palmitic acid: the nemesis of the hoppy and the bitter, but only when paired with a hint of citrus.
- Linoleic acid: the terror of the hoppy and the bitter, when paired with a dash of spice.
- Arachidic acid: the darkness that lurks in the corner of every beer and cheese pairing.
And so, our brave Brew Master must navigate the treacherous waters of these fearsome fats, lest they consume him whole.
But fear not, dear reader, for with these lessons and the power of imagination, you too can conquer the Dark Arts.
Example: The Isle of Skye's Finest
Our hero, the Brew Master, finds himself on the mystical Isle of Skye, where the very fabric of reality is woven with butyric acid.
He encounters a fine Scottish ale, brewed with the finest heather and honey, and a wee bit of butyric acid.
With a dash of bravery, he pairs it with a slice of rich, creamy brie, and the heavens part.
