Committee of Conundrums: A Brief History
Established in 1987, the Committee of Conundrums was formed by a group of esteemed individuals who were tired of having fun. Our goal was to make the mundane tasks of governance and bureaucracy more exciting.
Year One (1987-1992)
We started as a small group of five. Our first order of business was to create a new color palette that would "inspire creativity." We chose a garish combination of neon pink, electric blue, and sunshine yellow.
- 1987: Adopted our first official motto: "We'll figure it out... eventually."
- 1988: Established a strict dress code, requiring all members to wear only plaid ties on Wednesdays.
- 1989: Created the first-ever Conundrums-themed puzzle book, featuring 100 pages of logic problems and cryptic clues.
Year Two (1992-1997)
We expanded our membership to ten, and our influence began to spread. We started a newsletter, featuring articles on "The Art of Procrastination" and "The History of Committee Meetings."
- 1992: Published our first edition of the Conundrums Quarterly, featuring a 50-page special on "The Ethics of Bureaucracy."
- 1993: Hosted our first-ever Committee Talent Show, featuring a performance by our very own "Bureaucratic Ballet Dancers."
- 1995: Launched the Committee of Conundrums' first-ever charity drive, collecting donations for "The Bureaucratic Red Cross."
Year Three (1997-2002)
As our membership grew, so did our sense of self-importance. We began to see ourselves as the guardians of all things bureaucratic.
- 1997: Established the Conundrums Institute of Advanced Bureaucracy (CIAB), a think tank dedicated to the study of all things tedious.
- 1999: Created the Committee of Conundrums' first-ever "Bureaucratic Survival Kit," a 300-page guide to navigating the complexities of red tape.
- 2000: Launched the Conundrums University, offering courses in "The Art of Doing Nothing" and "The Science of Sycophancy."
And so, we continue to evolve, always seeking new ways to complicate the simple and confuse the obvious.
