By a margin of 3-0-0-6, the Committee of the Absurd hereby decrees that all jokes shall be subject to the Absurd Joke Tax.
The purpose of this tax is to penalize jokes that are deemed boring, unfunny, and completely unoriginal.
Jokes that are deemed boring will be subject to an additional 500% markup in their telling fee. Jokes that are also deemed unfunny will be subject to an additional 200% markup.
Originality will not be taken into account, as it is considered an unquantifiable and completely irrelevant factor.
The Absurd Joke Tax will go into effect immediately. Failure to comply will result in fines, penalties, and possibly even a committee-ordered reeducation camp for the worst offenders.
