After much hemming and hawing, the Committee of Conundrums has abandoned yet another decision in favor of doing absolutely nothing. This decision 3, codenamed "Folly of Fancypants," has been deemed too complicated, too confusing, and just plain too silly to bother implementing.
Subroutines 1-2 have been deemed sufficient, and the committee has decided to just go back to bed with a nice warm cup of tea and a good book.
