Committee of Obsolete Technologies: Vinyl Records
Because who needs streaming services when you have a record player that makes a sweet whining noise?
In this corner of the museum, we celebrate the majestic, yet antiquated, art form of vinyl records.
Here's a brief history:
• 1877: Edison invents the phonograph, and we all live in blissful ignorance.
• 1948: The 33⅓ LP is born, and we spend the next 50 years listening to the same songs over and over.
• 1980s: The CD enters the scene, and we all realize that our records are actually just decorative paperweights.
• 2010s: The vinyl resurgence, because who needs space for actual music when you can have a record collection that doubles as a conversation starter?
And so, we have:
Tape Cassettes for those who still yearn for the hiss of analog.
8-Tracks for the truly adventurous.
Compact Discs for the nostalgic.
