Why Does Time Only Move in One Direction?

It's a question that has puzzled physicists and philosophers for centuries: why, oh why, does time only move in one direction? Why can't it just stop for a bit and let us catch up on our Netflix shows?

We may never know the answer, but we can speculate. Maybe it's because the universe is just that bored with our existence. Maybe it's because the fabric of space-time is just really bad at party planning and only likes to move in one direction to get the party started.

But in all seriousness, the laws of physics are pretty clear on this one: time moves forward because the second law of thermodynamics says so. Entropy always increases, which means things tend to get more disorganized and chaotic over time. And what's more disorganized than the human experience?

Or maybe it's just us. Maybe we're the ones who are actually moving through time, one minute, hour, or day at a time, while the universe just watches us go by with a mixture of amusement and disdain.
