The Shortbread Cookie
Recipe for Disaster... or is it?
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup milk
- Optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Melt the butter. Don't burn it. We've all been there.
- Combine the sugars. It's a sugar party.
- Crack in the eggs. Not literally. That's just weird.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. The usual suspects.
- Pour in the milk and mix until it's all combined. Don't worry, it won't curdle. Probably.
- Add the vanilla extract if you're feeling fancy. We won't judge you.
- Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet. Try not to get too attached.
- Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
And that's it! You now have shortbread cookies that are short on subtlety, long on flavor.
