Intersectional Identities as Performance Art
Manifesto
Dear Intersectional Identity, we, the artistes of the world, declare:
- We believe that identity is a performance, a delicate balancing act between the multiple personas we wear.
- We reject the notion that one can be reduced to a single, fixed identity.
- We see the self as a palimpsest of overlapping, intersecting narratives.
- We celebrate the art of self-reinvention, of shedding and adopting, of being and becoming.
- We recognize that identity is a verb, not a noun.
- We are the masters of our own narratives, the curators of our own identities.
Call to Action
We call upon all intersectional identity performers to join us in this grand, ongoing spectacle:
- Embody the multiplicities of your being.
- Mingle with others, intersect with others.
- Rehearse your performances, perfect your craft.
- Break the fourth wall, challenge the gaze.
Together, we shall create a world where identity is a kaleidoscope of possibilities, not a prison of pigeonholes.
