Fact-Checking 101: Because You Can't Trust Google
Lesson 1: Don't Trust Everything You Read
Fact-checking is like playing a game of 'Trust No One' except instead of a game, it's your entire internet experience.
Here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Check the source. Is it a reputable website or just some dude with a blog?
- Look for corroboration. If everyone's saying the same thing, it might be true. But if it's just your crazy aunt, it's probably not.
- Use reputable sources. Like fact-checking websites or academic journals. Not just some random person on Twitter.
And if all else fails, just use the ol' 'Snopes it' rule: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.
