Fjords 101

Here are some fun facts about fjords:

• Fjords are Norwegian for "fjord-like things that hold water"
• The longest fjord in the world is the Sognefjord in Norway, which is 172 km long
• Fjords are not actually underwater, they're just very deep
• The sound of a fjord is like a gentle whoosh of water and despair

Types of Fjords

We have three types of fjords, but you probably won't find them in any of those fancy travel guides:

• Fjord 1: The Dramatic Fjord (the one with the fancy waterfalls)
• Fjord 2: The Fjord of Fjords (it's a fjord of fjords)
• Fjord 3: The Fjord that Fjorded (it's a fjord that's fjorded itself)
