Small Talk 101: The Art of Not Being a Total Weirdo
Small talk is an art form, really. It's like the delicate dance of not saying something too weird or too boring. Too much of a weirdo and you're the talker no one wants to listen to. Too boring and you'll put your audience to sleep. But just right... well, that's a conversation that'll make everyone feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Lesson 1: The 7 C's of Not Being a Total Weirdo (aka The 6 C's + 1 C)
- 1. Cautious: Don't say something that'll get you in trouble.
- 2. Cautious-er: Even if you think it's safe, double-check.
- 3. Cautious-est: Triple-check, quadruple-check, you know the drill.
- 4. Common: Talk about the weather, or sports, or your aunt.
- 5. Common-er: Mention your favorite food, but only if it's not weird (like durian fruit).
- 6. Common-est: Use the phrase "I'm just here for the free stuff" and you're golden.
- 7. Condescension: Make fun of your own weirdness, and everyone else's too. (Just kidding, don't do that, that's not nice).
