Overview

Ancient Procedure 6: The Art of Slowly and Painfully Removing Rust from a 3000-year-old Iron Pot

Warning: This procedure is not recommended for the faint of heart or those with a strong stomach.

Step 1: Acquire a 3000-year-old Iron Pot

Locate an authentic ancient iron pot, preferably one that's been sitting in the corner of a dusty museum for millennia.

Acquire a 3-foot-long wooden stick and a handful of fine-grained sand.

Optional: If you're feeling fancy, bring a spare set of dentures.

Proceed to Step 2: Scrubbing

Step 2: Scrubbing

Using the 3-foot-long wooden stick, gently scrub the rusty surface of the pot with the fine-grained sand.

Be sure to scrub in a figure-eight pattern, as the ancient ones did.

Optional: If you're feeling particularly masochistic, scrub for 4 hours straight.
