Step 2: Walking Meditation

Walking While Still Moving

Now that you've mastered the art of standing, it's time to apply it to walking. Focus your attention on the sensation of your feet touching the ground. Feel the weight of your body distributed evenly on both feet. Imagine a tiny, invisible scale in your mind, weighing the pressure of your right foot against the pressure of your left. If they're equal, you're doing it right.

Walk slowly, deliberately, like a cat in a tutu. Pay attention to the rhythm of your steps. Don't let your mind wander to thoughts of catnip or laser pointers. Focus on the sensation of your feet striking the ground.

As you walk, imagine the ground beneath you is a trampoline, and your feet are bouncing off it, but don't bounce too hard, or you'll end up like me, in a world of hurt.
