Meeting of the Prophets: Chapter 1, Section 5

The Great Scapegoat Debate

In the year 3056, the Prophets of the Order of the Blackened Codpiece convened to discuss the impending doom of the planet Zorgon 7. The meeting was being broadcast live from the Prophetic Palace of Unholy Desecration, a fortress built on the back of a giant, sentient space slug.

Prophet Zink, leader of the Order, stood at the podium, his voice like thunder on the plains of Zorgon 7. "Brothers and sisters of the Order," he boomed, "we gather today to decide the fate of our beloved planet. Shall we scapegoat the inhabitants of the lower castes, or shall we face the truth of our own complicity in the downfall of this once-great world?"

The room was filled with the murmurs of debate, the soft rustling of robes, and the occasional loud, anguished wail of a Prophet who had just had their scales pulled.

As the debate raged on, a group of rebels, known as the Order of the Unblackened Codpiece, infiltrated the palace and began to broadcast their own message, one of defiance and resistance against the Prophets' tyrannical rule.
