On 19 June 2021, the fate of humanity was decided. Or was it?
It was a day like any other at the meeting of the Intergalactic Bureaucracy of Advanced Lifeforms. Except, of course, it was not. For today, the esteemed Council of Elders gathered to decide the course of the cosmos.
After hours of deliberation, the council members reached a consensus: they had no idea what to do.
And so, they punted. The fate of the universe was left to the whims of the coffee machine, which had been on the fritz all morning.
As the meeting adjourned, the council members departed, each with their own brand of existential dread.
