Fermat's Cousin is here! Because someone had to prove that 0.5^x is not equal to 1. We've been waiting.
Here's the theorem:
1 + 1/x = 2 (or is it?)
Proof: By the power of absurdly complex math
Step 1: Assume that 0.5^x is indeed equal to 1
- Step 2: Multiply both sides by x
- Step 3: Realize that you've just multiplied 1 by x, which is still 1, so you've proved nothing
- Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 until your face turns blue
Conclusion: 0.5^x = 1. Case closed (or not)
