Commandment 7: Thou Shalt Not Leave the Office Without a Valid Reason for Leaving
In this, the 7th and most sacred of commandments, our great leader decrees that thou shalt not depart from the hallowed halls of productivity without a compelling reason, lest thou be cast into the outer darkness of Unpaid Overtime.
For it is written, and it is so, that the absence of a valid reason for departure is a grave offense against the Office Gods, who shall smite thee with a deluge of meetings, emails, and forgotten lunches.
And lo, if thou art called away to a family emergency or other unforeseen circumstances, thou shalt not be cast into the outer darkness, for the office has a comprehensive bereavement policy, including but not limited to:
- Death of a loved one (spouse, child, or pet)
- Unforeseen family emergency (e.g., sudden loss of electricity, or in-laws visiting unannounced)
- Unavoidable family obligations (e.g., family reunions, or being forced to participate in a family heirloom auction)
But, alas, if thou art called away without a valid reason, thy coworkers shall gaze upon thee with suspicion, and the office will be plunged into a crisis of productivity, with meetings upon meetings, and a sea of unanswered emails.
So, heed this commandment, and depart with a valid reason, lest thou face the wrath of the Office Gods!
