Step 6: Eternal Optimism
At this point, all hope is lost. The team is on the verge of collapse, but still, we press on. We remind ourselves that every meeting we have left is a chance to make a new discovery, a new breakthrough, a new excuse to not get any actual work done.
Here's a rough plan for Step 6:
- Send a strongly worded email to the client explaining that we've reached peak human potential and can't possibly deliver anything of value at this point.
- Order 10 extra cups of coffee and have the team drink them all at once, in a moment of solidarity.
- Call a team meeting to discuss our collective existential dread and see if anyone can muster the energy to care.
We'll get back to you soon, with more excuses, or maybe, just maybe, we'll actually do something.
