Also known as "The Ultimate Time-Waster," this technique involves creating an exhaustive list of tasks, subtasks, and sub-subtasks that will never get done.
Example:
- Buy milk
- Walk dog
- Watch cat video on YouTube
- Make a list of things to do
- Subtask 1: Research optimal milk-buying strategies
- Subtask 2: Learn to play guitar while walking dog
- Subtask 3: Master the art of doing absolutely nothing
- Sub-subtask 1: Create a separate list for each type of task
- Sub-subtask 2: Develop a system of color-coded labels for each subtask
- Sub-subtask 3: Write a 10,000-word thesis on the sociology of procrastination
By the time you've finished making this list, you'll have accomplished nothing, but at least you'll have a great excuse for not doing anything.
