The Deflection Decision-Making Model

A comprehensive guide to making decisions, but not actually making any.

Step 1: Acknowledge the problem, but not really address it.

Step 2: Create a committee to discuss it, but never meet in person.

Step 3: Send out a mass email to "experts" for "input," but never respond to anyone.

Step 4: Take a 3-hour lunch break to "reflect" on the decision.

Deflection Techniques

  • Blame it on the intern.
  • Claim it was a "team decision."
  • Say it's "in the works," but never follow up.
  • Call a meeting to cancel the meeting.
