The Art of Repeating Yourself
When in a meeting, it's always good to know when to bring up an idea that's already been brought up. Here's our technique:
- Reiterate the point, but with slightly different words. Like, "As I was saying, I mean, uh, I was just saying... "
- Use a slightly different font, like Comic Sans, to convey the sense that this is a new, exciting idea
- Make eye contact with someone who's clearly not paying attention, but only for a second, to give them a chance to get it
- Take a sip of your coffee, but only if you've already been holding it for 20 minutes. This is key!
- Repeat the phrase "I'm not sure why I'm saying this, but..." to convey the sense of "This is a new idea"
We're not saying it works, but it's definitely a technique.
