Meeting Protocol: Roast Standards
When attending meetings, please adhere to our ROAST STANDARDS, the unspoken rules that keep you from being the meeting's biggest disappointment.
Standard 1: Don't be the one who says "I don't have any questions."
- Repeat after me: "I have questions, and I want to ask them."
- Don't be that guy.
Standard 2: Don't be the one who takes 30 minutes to summarize their own work.
- Keep it short, sweet, and not-at-all-too-long.
- We have coffee, we have snacks, but we don't have time for your 30-minute monologue.
Example: How Not To Summarize Your Work In 30 Minutes
Standard 3: Don't be the one who sends a meeting invite with "MAYBE."
- We're not asking you to be a mindreader, but it's not like we have a choice either.
- Please, for the love of all things good and holy, write "Will Attend" or "Will Not Attend".
Why "Maybe" is the Worst Word in Meeting Invites
Follow our ROAST STANDARDS to become the meeting MVP. Your colleagues will thank you.
