Jane Doodle's spaceship hurtled towards the swirling colors of the vortex.
As she navigated through the distorted space-time continuum, her ship's engines sputtered and died.
The vortex's alignment of stars and galaxies seemed to mock her, like a cosmic joke without a punchline.
Jane Doodle's determination, however, remained unshaken.
She activated the emergency backup power source and charged forward.
Or so she thought.
A faint hum of machinery echoed through the ship as Jane Doodle's backup power began to malfunction.
A low-flying, pixelated creature with a penchant for bad jokes and worse puns appeared before her.
"You'll never escape the vortex," the creature said, with a chuckle that was almost, but not quite, on-key.
"Oh, come on," Jane Doodle said, exasperated, "I've got this.
Or do I?"
