Chapter 3: Security Systems

3.2.3: Pupil Scan Procedures

In the event of an emergency, it is crucial that our security systems can accurately scan for any signs of pupil dilation. This is why we have developed a comprehensive guide on how to perform a proper Pupil Scan Procedure.

  1. Step 1: Ensure that the subject is seated comfortably, but not too comfortably. We don't want them to get too relaxed.
  2. Step 2: Position the Pupil Scan Device (PSD) at an angle of 45 degrees to the subject's face. This will allow for maximum accuracy and minimum glare.
  3. Step 3: Engage the Pupillary Distance (PD) mode on the PSD. This will enable the device to calculate the exact distance between the subject's pupils.
  4. Step 4: Record the Pupil Size (PS) and PD readings for future reference. We must be thorough in our notes, as this data will be crucial in determining the subject's level of alertness.

Remember, a good Pupil Scan is not just about the numbers; it's about the art of observation. Pay attention to any subtle changes in pupil size or PD, and always be prepared for the unexpected.
