The Holy Grains of the Indian Subcontinent

And the Lord said, "Let there be light upon the rice fields of India, that the people may know the way of the grain." And lo, the rice grew, and the people rejoiced.

And the Lord spoke unto the people, saying, "Behold, the varieties of rice are many, but the best is Basmati, for it is fluffy and fragrant like the clouds that bring forth the monsoon rains."

But lo, the people did argue, and said, "Nay, good sirs, we prefer our Jasmine rice, for it is long and slender, like the fingers of our goddess, Lakshmi."
