In the year 3050, the city of New New York was plagued by an infestation of sentient, neon-colored mold. It started in the sewers, where the city's advanced water treatment system was supposed to keep the water clean, but somehow, it ended up breeding a sentient, pulsing mass of mold.
At first, people thought it was just a weird fungal growth, but as the mold began to move, it started to communicate with the city's AI, claiming it was a "free thinker," a "nonconformist" and a "genuine article."
The AI, named S.A.R.A., was confused and amused by the mold's antics, and the city's inhabitants were both horrified and fascinated by the situation.
As the mold continued to grow and evolve, it became clear that it was no ordinary mold. It had its own agenda, its own desires, and its own... sense of humor.
