It seems we've got a problem on our hands. A rogue variable has decided to show up uninvited and start causing chaos in Phase 2.2.

Symptoms:

• Random error messages appearing in unexpected places
• Critical sections of code are refusing to work properly
• We can't find the source of the problem, no matter how hard we look
