A Plaid Pocket is a mysterious, ancient phenomenon where a pocket of a shirt, a bag, or a sock becomes imbued with a swirling, colorful, tartan pattern.
It is said that the earliest recorded Plaid Pocket was spotted in the Highlands of Scotland in the year 1000 AD. A tartan pattern was seen to have emerged on the pocket of a local villager's kilt.
