Extreme Task Delegation: Because Adulting is Hard
Step 1: Identify Your Weaknesses
Be honest with yourself, do you:
- Procrastinate for hours on end?
- Have trouble saying 'no' to social invitations?
- Crave the taste of last night's pizza for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
If you answered 'yes' to all or any of these, it's time to delegate!
Step 2: Find Your Delegate
Choose someone you know who:
- Will do the work for you without questioning your sanity?
- Has a strong stomach for your drama and excuses?
- Is secretly a closet procrastinator themselves?
Example: your spouse, your roommate, or that one friend who's always 'helping' you with your Netflix password.
Step 3: Assign the Task
Explain the task in excruciating detail, using diagrams and flowcharts if necessary. Then, hand over the reins and:
- Make a dramatic exit.
- Leave a trail of breadcrumbs leading to your delegate's desk.
- Set a reminder for when to pick up a 'working lunch' from the deli.
And that's it! Now you can focus on more important things... like your Netflix queue, or that one video game you've been 'studying' for weeks.
