Chapter 3 - The Butter Trap

It was a dark and foreboding night in the land of snacks. The streets were deserted, the only sound being the distant chatter of the local convenience store's microwaves. I had to get out of there, I had to get some snacks.

I had heard of a place, hidden deep within the city, where the most divine of snacks awaited. A place known only as 'The Butter Trap'. A place where the butter flows like a golden river, where the popcorn is the perfect blend of salty and crunchy.

I approached the building, a nondescript warehouse in a rundown alleyway. The sign above the door read 'The Butter Trap' in faded letters. I pushed open the door, and a bell above it let out a tired clang.

Inside, I was greeted by the owner, a man with a name tag that read 'Buck the Butter King'. He looked at me with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

"What brings you to The Butter Trap?" he asked, his voice dripping with an air of superiority.

"I just heard about your legendary butter," I said, trying to play it cool.

Buck's eyes lit up with excitement, "Ah, you must be here for the famous Butter Topping Extravaganza!" he exclaimed.

"That's the one," I said, a plan beginning to form in my mind.

"Follow me," Buck said, beckoning me deeper into the warehouse.

I walked behind him, the air thickening with the aroma of melting butter.

We entered a room filled with an endless array of snack foods, but one thing stood out above the rest: a vat of golden, glistening butter.

"Behold, the Butter Topping Extravaganza!" Buck declared, his voice echoing off the walls.

I approached the vat, my eyes fixed on the prize. I could feel the butter calling to me, a siren's song of salty, crunchy, cheesy goodness.

But, as I reached out to claim my prize, a hand grabbed my wrist, pulling me back.

"You can't just take the butter, my friend," Buck said, his voice low and menacing.

I tried to reason with him, but he was firm. "You have to pay for the butter," he said, a sly grin spreading across his face.

I looked around, desperate. That's when I saw it: a sign on the wall, 'The Butter Trap: Where the Price is Right (and Wrong)'.

I had been trapped.
