The Lump of Doubt

The Lump of Doubt is a theoretical construct used to describe the phenomenon of excessive philosophical inquiry. It is a state of mind in which one is simultaneously aware of, and yet oblivious to, the fact that they are being completely wrong.

In this state, one's reasoning is akin to trying to grasp a handful of jelly, only to discover that the more they think they have, the more it slips through their fingers.
