It was supposed to be the perfect start to the year. A new batch of artisanal cheese fries were to be unveiled at the annual "Frytopia" festival, but things quickly took a turn for the worse.

• First, the fry machine malfunctioned and started spitting out fries at an alarming rate.
• The line for the "Fancy Fries Bar" stretched on for miles.
• The festival's CEO was spotted arguing with a group of angry foodies over the meaning of "artisanal."

It was, in short, a disaster.
