Welcome to the Year the Internet Burnt Down

It was a wild ride, folks. Facebook was still a thing, but nobody used it for actual social interaction. Twitter was just a platform for arguing with strangers. And don't even get us started on YouTube's "recommended" videos.

But in all seriousness, 2018 was a year of great change and upheaval. It was the year that saw the rise of the "influencer" and the fall of the "expert." The year that made us all question what it means to be "informed" and "educated" in the age of clickbait and echo chambers.

And yet, amidst all the chaos, there were moments of beauty and wonder. Like the time the internet collectively freaked out over a video of a cat playing the piano. Or the great "Storm Area 51" raid of 2019, which, let's be real, was just a bunch of dudes in their pajamas driving to a desert in the middle of the night to take a selfie.
