Today, I had to deal with the most inane, the most asinine, the most utterly RIDICULOUS customer service experience of my life.
It started when I tried to return a product that didn't work. The customer service rep told me it was because I hadn't followed the instructions "carefully enough". I asked her if she thought I was a moron, and she assured me no, she was just trying to help.
I asked her to explain the instructions, and she sent me a link to a 20-page PDF that looked like it was written by a committee of tone-deaf, soulless automatons.
Apparently, the instructions were "clearly" written in a way that was "obviously" easy to understand, and I was just too stupid to get it.
I demanded to speak to her supervisor, and after 20 minutes on hold, I got a call from someone who seemed even LESS capable than the original rep.
They told me that the product "technically" worked as intended, and that was the problem. I was the problem. I needed to be educated on what the product "technically" did, because clearly, I was too ignorant to understand.
It was like trying to have a conversation with a brick wall.
I hung up.
And that's when I came here, to this Random Rant, to vent about the absurdity of it all.
