Debunking Burnout Theory: Exercises 3.1 - "I'm Not Crying, I Just Have Dust in My Eyes!"
Exercise 4: Dust-Induced Crying: A Study on the Misinterpretation of Emotional Signals
Objective: To determine if a person can be convinced that a person is crying due to dust in their eyes rather than actual emotional distress.
Methodology:
- Find a participant with a known history of emotional instability.
- Have them watch a 10-minute video of a kitten playing the piano while wearing a pair of Groucho Marx glasses.
- After the video, ask the participant if they are experiencing emotional distress.
- Repeat the process with the same participant, but this time, have them watch the same video while wearing a face mask covered in fake snot.
- Observe and record the results.
